This FREE public event is part of FinnFest USA 2026, September 17–20 in Minneapolis. No FinnFest pass is required, and everyone is welcome.

Contemporary Finland, turned all the way up.

Paleface is a recording artist, author and cultural commentator—and a leading voice in political Finnish rap. His work connects hip-hop with Finnish folk traditions, working-class protest song, funk, rhythm and blues, jazz, history and social commentary.

His platinum-selling Finnish-language album Helsinki–Shangri-La received three Finnish EMMA Awards and became a landmark in Finnish rap. He was also a Nordic Music Prize finalist, and in 2020 received Finland’s State Award for Public Information with Esa Salminen for their handbook on Finnish rap.

At The Cabooze, Paleface meets Minneapolis. A local DJ and opener or moderator will help turn the night into a live exchange between two cities with deep and distinctive music cultures. Final local artist details will be announced.

Admission is free, but advance Eventbrite registration is encouraged — choose the ticket named Cabooze – Headliner Event. No FinnFest pass is required. If this night makes you want more Finland, FinnFest day passes and four-day passes unlock a full weekend of music, ideas, films, workshops and performances.
