Metku will teach with assistance from Lauluaika. We’ll cover the basics of social dancing in a fun and friendly way, and then try out some waltz, schottische, and polka rhythms. Great for new dancers and those who haven’t danced in a while. Experienced dancers welcome to come join the fun and help everyone level up. Live music by members of Metku and Lauluaika.

ABOUT PRESENTER: Michael Ludgate (mandolin, kantele, banjo) and Katrina Mackey (fiddle, flute) have both been inspired by their Finnish ancestral heritage to learn more about traditional music and dance of Finland. The result is the band Metku. Katrina and Mike play as a duo but often are fortunate to have the super talented Philip Robinson (guitar) join for a trio and Richard Koski joins for a quartet. In addition to the traditional Finnish repertoire, we play traditional music for contra dances, square dances, private parties and weddings. www.metku.org
