CALL TO ARTISTS— Muuttoliike! A TINY ART EXHIBITION
Submit up to 3 pieces for possible inclusion. The exhibit will be featured at FinnFest 2025, August 1st through 3rd. Muuttoliike asks: What does migration mean to you? Migration can represent a journey, hardship, hope, a new start, etc. Art submissions should speak to the theme and reflect Finnish culture (whatever that means to you).
Submissions can highlight traditional craft like birchbark weaving, weaving, himmeli or can highlight more traditional art mediums such as painting or drawing.
Chosen pieces will be displayed in a format will showcase the breadth of the
Finnish/Finnish American/Sámi/Finnishanaabe artistic community. This tiny art show is open to all ages.
One artist will be selected to receive a People’s Choice Award during the Closing Reception, Sunday, August 3.
Requirements
● Submitted pieces should be 6” x 6” (Including any framing).
● Submit up to 3 artworks per person.
● Medium: 2D and 3D works accepted (this includes traditional crafts). Anything 3D or
sculptural should be fixed to a 2D surface. A wood surface is ideal. All artworks will be
displayed vertically.
● All submissions should be fitted with a hanging wire or tooth hanger on the backside of
the piece.
#️⃣Up to 100 pieces will be selected.
May 2, 2025: Artist submits interest form and prospectus for the works to be considered.
May 23, 2025: Artist is notified of acceptance by this date.
July 1, 2025: Final date to receive physical artworks.
Week of July 28, 2025: Artwork prepped and installed for FinnFest
August 1- 3, 2025: Artwork displayed during festival.
