In a new “director’s cut,” the film “Strange Nature” will be shown at Zeitgeist Zinema 2 (222 E Superior St) a movie theater in downtown Duluth.

Strange Nature is a 2018 film written and directed by special-effects artist, Jim Ojala. Born and raised in Duluth, Ojala knew about the frog deformities that Minnesota school children discovered when they were doing a science project. Their discovery became national news. The story gave Ojala the opportunity to imagine the mutations and create a fictional story telling an “eco-horror” story through the eyes of a single mother and her son. The film was shot in and around Ely, Minnesota. Ojala will introduce the film and will participate in an after-the-film discussion.
